I
remember back when I was teaching first and second graders they loved
the Zoobooks that I had in my classroom. The kids would look at them
and look at them until they were falling apart. I was surprised to
see they still have them now. I couldn't resist checking them out
for my grandchildren.
Each
one is about a different animal. It tells about the animal like its
size, what it eats, how fast it is and lots of little other facts.
They are very colorful and have a lot of information in them. There
are a lot of illustrations with explanations that make the facts
understandable. It brings it down to the kids level.
Some of them have posters in the centerfold that you can pull out to hang on your wall. They are full color photographs.
Some of them have stickers in them also. What kids don't like stickers! I know my kids did and so do my grandchildren.
Each
one has activities in it too. There are word searches, crosswords,
mazes, things to color, and lots of other things. Some of these might
be above your child's level of learning but that won't take away from
the rest of the magazine.
There
are different level subscriptions for different age groups. The
Zoobooks are for ages 6-12. My grandson is 5 and he will really like
them. I am sure the activities will be too difficult for him though.
I would have loved these when I was little. My students loved them. Then I got to use them with my own children. Now, I am fortunate enough to see my grandkids learning from them. My one grandson is really going to love these. And I am sure he will remember the facts in the Zoobooks too. He takes it all in like a sponge.
